#TIMYTheFaceOff: My heart is breaking but for the wrong reasons

Most people would be content with a showdown between the legal wife and the “sidechick” but for me, all of this is futile if the show doesn’t go back to basics and revive its core message at the beginning of the show. For the last three days, I would just like them to bring it. And bring it hard. My heart is breaking and its all for the wrong reasons.

#TIMYTheLoveTeamIsBack: Ready for new beginnings and goodbyes?

Tonight should have been a romantic lead-in to the most awaited IsTi wedding on Monday but for some reason, all this dialogue of death and loving each other beyond death has dampened my excitement somewhat, leaving me with a sense of foreboding for what’s to come. I blame you Basti (and TIMY writers).

#TIMYRealDeal: Unrequited love and kindred spirits

TIMY is doing a great job in making sure that people become more sensitive to the plight of the LGBT, given that most of them, like Ali and Stephen are naturally selfless and kind, undeserving of ridicule but rather admiration for the strength it takes to deal with their situation. I hope Ali and Stephen find love, hopefully with each other or maybe with others because these two characters deserve to be happy. Stephen confiding to Ali about his big secret was a major development in their friendship because he gave his bro his full trust and exposed his weakness to him because he knew that Ali was the kind the kind of person that can be trusted.

#TIMYTheGamePlan: Saying sorry in style; Mira’s Kingdom

The good thing about this episode was that it laid to rest IsTi’s baby issues for the meantime but taught a valuable lesson too about setting priorities and respecting a woman’s readiness to become a mother. Ali said it right when he said that women should be prepared psychologically, physically and emotionally for motherhood. And a lot of people seem to forget that a woman’s opinion in the household is just as important as the man’s. So once again, thank you Team TIMY for that reminder. My only complaint? Too short of a make up scene between the lovebirds. After the stressful weekend after the baby LQ, I believe we deserved more.

#TIMYTrust: Disaster averted of disaster waiting to happen?

Tonight’s episode was a nail biter. I must admit that like Iris, I was panicking the whole time because of Basti’s relaxed attitude. Perhaps, it was because Basti’s laid back air reminded me of their fight in Greece — because looking back, Iris almost reached that level of frustration as the Greece wedding which led her to blow up on Basti in the first place. It was a good thing now that despite her frustration, she held her tongue from saying something negative about her husband which could hurt their relationship.

While I appreciated Basti’s creativity and relaxed way of doing things, I felt like he should have updated the rest of the team about his whereabouts as well as his plans and not simply said that he’s on top of it. This lack of communication, while disaster was averted today, is a reminder that Basti and Iris need to talk more about things, both professional and personal in order to strengthen the trust that is the foundation of a strong and lasting marriage.

#TIMYMovingOut: Stubborn, selfish love

I loved that this episode was an excellently laid out discussion on being a mother, of becoming a husband and a wife, of making choices, of respect for all. It managed to discuss all of these issues in an entertaining and informative fashion while moving the story forward. The debates within the episode was on point. The discussions on twitter were real time reactions to the dialogue and it was even more colorful and interesting. This is why even though its aired late, people tune in. More than the kilig, we are engaged with ideas and opinions. We are compelled to speak and converse. This is why TIMY is a cut above the rest, and its not just platitudes for the show. It really is a one of a kind gem in Philippine television. I stand by that.

#TIMYSpoilerAlert: Blabbermouth Otap, Mama (Agnes) knows best, Welcome back Lolo Soc

Basti made a good call in refusing the condo being offered by Tita V. In wanting to raise his family using his own strength and effort, he proved yet again that even though they rushed into marriage, he was ready to build a life with Iris.

The fact that Iris was on board despite the sacrifice of starting with a life of poverty showed that she too was as committed to the relationship as her husband. The fact that they both understood that they would not get the good life simply by being in love proved that they are also a realistic couple and not just blinded by love to whatever challenges stand in their way. I am awed by their outlook, and the way TIMY has built these characters. I loved OTWOL’s Clark and Leah but Basti and Iris are completely different in their approach to marriage and they hold their own appeal.

#TIMYDoneDeal: IsTi smooths over first MQ; Nestor-Val LQ begins

The dialogue, as usual, was on point. Iris’ realization that when she married Basti she needed to adjust and compromise was an excellent lesson for newlywed couples (no matter what age) and proved that she was also sensitive to her husband’s dilemma. I loved that Basti volunteered to talk to Mama Cass since he was the man and the head of the family. In doing so, he assumed responsibility should Mama Cass not understand why they wanted to move out. He didn’t want to jeopardize the relationship between mother and daughter and assumed the risk of incurring his in-law’s ire. Basti is a rare gem indeed.

#TIMYOfficiallyYours: Euphoria and OJD, OJD and even more OJD. I died.

But the best part of evening was that there was so much IsTi. I loved the transition from the coffee scene to the hide and seek scene where a wall divided Iris and Basti as they talked about Iris’ family. I loved the sincerity in Basti’s words while Iris’ reaction was so relatable. It was as if she finally realized how much Basti has grown since the time in Greece and that he truly understood her now, especially when he acknowledged that she made the right decision t break up with him the first time. When he asked her to be his girlfriend through a wall, my heart was fit to burst because even through a wooden partition, the feelings were so clear, so much so that Iris had to step away from hiding to face him.

And who was she kidding, anyway? She never stopped loving Basti, not even once or else she wouldn’t have had a tough time trying to suppress her feelings for him.
