#TIMYInDenial: When faced with the feels, run!

One thing’s for sure.  Till I Met You never does things half assed. Its always pedal to the metal, methodical and always intense. Whoever marketed this show as a rom-com again?

THEY REALLY DESERVE THAT BONUS. Not only do they offer events management, food and photography, they can also pinch hit for the best wedding entertainment. Here, Basti rescues Iris from embarrassment by singing with her at Ned and Helena’s wedding reception.

On our first episode back in the third slot at 9:30 pm, Team TIMY did not fall short of expectations and made sure to deliver an episode packed with scene after scene overflowing with more feelings that you know what to do with. We also got our first glimpse of IsTi (pronounced as Iced Tea). Apparently, James re-christened the Iris-Basti ship because he felt like IsTi  had a better sound than BaRis (so we’re phasing that out). He made the announcement on their sold out Jadine in Love tour in Cebu and since he made the effort to think of his ship name, we the fans will indulge. But we’re moving away from the topic…Back to the episode recap.

After Basti avoids Iris like the plague at the wedding party, resolute that he will get out of their life forever when they return to Athens, fate seems to have a different plan as something happens to give him a sign that all hope is not lost about Iris returning his feelings. When he confronts Iris about it, he corners her into admitting why she is unwilling to give him a chance and he pledges to fight for his love for her and wait patiently until she’s ready and sure that she can return his love.

For several weeks now, there have been questions as to why the Iris-Basti angle has not been explored fully. Some of the viewers felt that Basti suddenly falling in love with Iris felt forced and awkward. Some viewers were also questioning why Iris was treating Basti so rudely when all he did was support her. Up to a certain degree, these questions really made sense but I was expecting their story to unfold slowly after the Ali issue was resolved.

I should have known that TIMY would never do anything conventional. I loved the habulan scene where Basti physically had to chase Iris all over the resort and hold her just to make her stay put – just to make her listen. This was actually the third time they’ve chased each other in this series (first was in Mykonos before the break up, second was at the port area when Ali lost his nerve and threw up, now this)

At first, the scene seemed funny because they were just literally chasing after each other. But as Iris’ running became more panicked –as she grew more scared of facing Basti, viewers come to realize that she is running not just for the sake of getting away but because she is literally afraid of opening her heart.

But as Iris’ running became more panicked –as she grew more scared of facing Basti, viewers come to realize that she is running not just for the sake of getting away but because she is literally afraid of opening her heart. When she explained to Basti why she wasn’t ready and why she doubted what she felt, it was heartbreaking because audiences knew how her first love ended up in heartbreak. Viewers could not help but find it in their hearts to forgive her for treating Basti shabbily.

As for Basti, the intensity of his feelings for Iris was palpalable, as well as his resolve in fighting for his feelings for her even if he had to wait uncertainly if and when she will be ready. When he explained that love just happens, he spoke the truth and James Reid’s delivery, once again was on point. His confrontation scene with Iris was both tender and passionate and his patience and resolve was so moving. Not all guys would choose that path, which just goes to show what a standup guy Basti was.

Ouch. We feel you Ali. We feel you.

I felt my heart break for Ali in this episode – seeing the person that he loved confess his feelings for yet another person that he loved and could not hate. He was caught in between being a good person/ best friend and a bitter ex and he chose the high road, actively giving his blessing to the two people in life that he loved the most. When Basti asked his bro to help him find Iris at all cost, my heart shattered into a million pieces for Ali. At the same time, I was rooting for Iris and Basti because they too deserved to be happy after all they’ve been through.

This episode served up so many good scenes. It was good that there was a twitter party because I could not have survived the night with my sanity intact if I could not release the feels one way or another. All I know was that I spent the better part of the episode with bated breath, so caught up was I with the events of this friendship that I could only immerse myself in the moment. All I can say, Jadine chemistry is on point, and adding JC Santos to this mix is perfection.

Congrats Direk Tonette and Direk Andoy for this episode. What a way to return to our home slot! PS Kudos to head writer Shugo Praico. Dialogues on point. Grabe.
