#TIMYSantorini: All aboard the BaRis ship

JADINE, FINALLY. I’ve waited two weeks for this scene and it delivered on the feels. These two are magic. Period. No erase.

I’m not gonna lie. There were very strong episodes in the last two weeks but tonight’s is one of my absolute favorites. The reason is simple: Jadine.

I’ve been a BaRista even before this series started and I’m glad that finally, there is some progression in their relationship.

As Ali, Iris and Basti make a business out of their skills, their client base increases but Iris and Ali receive bad news after they learn that they will not be absorbed by the hotel after their OJT because of freeze hiring. They do however, have one big client left and this event could at least give Iris some savings to take home to the Philippines. As Basti and Iris set out for Santorini to meet with the client, they begin to learn more about each other and gain some insight as to why they are the people that they are.

POOR BABY. Iris should have given Basti a hug. But the week is young. I have hope.

Again I say, I love this episode because it concentrated on developing the Basti-Iris dynamic, which some fans believe was lacking in the past two weeks before Basti fell in love with Iris. Up to a point, I agree that there was a strong focus on Ali and Iris/ Ali and Basti that the build up before the fall seemed rushed. But this episode more than made up for it by serving up the kilig by the truckload.

Set with the Santorini backdrop, the banter was strong in the first part of the episode. Nadine and James had chemistry in OTWOL but now that they are a real life couple, they don’t even need to touch for sparks to fly. Basti’s mischievous grin and Iris’ repressed smile plus a bit of eye contact was enough for them to create a tension that transcends the screen. I for one, was transfixed. These two are magic on (and off) screen and I’ve given up trying to explain how they make me feel.

Adding to the romance of the moment was the magnificent Oia sunset, which the TIMY team made sure to share with the viewers. So thank you TIMY for that wonderful view. Basti’s backstory was both heartbreaking and endearing, and I wanted Iris to hug him so badly to give him some comfort. They are friends after all, right?

While there was no hug, I liked that finally, Iris is seeing Basti as a real person and not just some bum interloper to her and Ali’s friendship. Basti deserves as much because he been nothing but a good friend to Ali and Iris since the beginning. And as much as they are different, I liked that the show is starting to show similarities between the characters and there is an active acknowledgement of their parallels.

BED SCENE? When Direk Tonette said that Jadine will be more mature in TIMY, I didn’t expect a bed scene in the third week! Kidding. This will be completely innocent for sure, but check out the knowing grin on James’ face. Somebody is enjoying this closeness with his lady love. After two weeks of watching her be sweet with another guy, its his turn. And rightfully so.

The episode made sure to lay the groundwork for the next phase of the story and sets the stage for the next big conflict that the BaRis love story will have to face — the love triangle involving Val, Cass and Nestor. This even before their relationship unfolds, and not to mention Ali’s feelings for Basti already looms above a budding romance between these two characters. But despite all these challenges, the Abangan gives me hope. Plus I’m holding on to Sir EJS’s tweet that they will kiss before the week is up! Oh my Jadine heart.
